Aberdeen Mosque Donation to Local Charity, Archway

Aberdeen Mosque during the Month of Ramadan raised money for a local charity called Archway. In the month of Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged by their faith to be more generous towards all people. The mosque committee, lead by Dr Omran Al-Mahtot decided to raise money for Archyway; a local charity supporting children and adults with learning disabilities.

 

The members of the Muslim Community in Aberdeen have raised two thousands pounds for the local charity. 
A cheque of £2000 signed by the Mosque Treasurer (Dr Mumtaz Huque) was handed to Archways' - a charity which cares for over 60 children and adults and supporting almost 200 families in Aberdeen altogether.

 

Mr H McKenna, the Chairperson of Mosque Board of Trustees said: Aberdeen Mosque is part of Aberdeen City and supporting a local charity such as Archway is a pleasure for the Muslim community, and more contribution from the Mosque would continue to come to support excellent charity organisation like Archway in towards their good course.

 

“Muslims are encouraged by their faith to help all humans regardless of their faith, race and backgrounds and therefore, Aberdeen Mosque Executive committee decided to raised some money   during the month of Ramadan (Fasting).   as a humble contribution towards the good cause of Archway charity”, said the Mosque committee president, Dr Omran Al Mahtot.

Dr Momtaz Haque (Mosque Treasurer) said:
 “Over the years we have supported many larger national and international charities but this year we decided to focus on one working in the local community.  Having found out what Archway does and how much help it gives out to families and individuals with learning disabilities we are very proud to contribute our quota to the excellent services Archways is providing."
 
Archway Chairman Jim Sangster was delighted that the Aberdeen Mosque was able to help.  The current economic climate has made it difficult for many charities including Archway to raise all the funds they need. More and more the charity is relying on donations from other organisations like the Aberdeen Mosque.
 
Mr Sangster said:
"This is a fantastic donation from the Aberdeen Mosque and Islamic Centre which will help towards the cost of essential equipment for the charity.”
